2026 Volunteer Leadership Opportunities

You must be a current chapter member to volunteer. The following role descriptions are high-level summaries of key responsibilities. Full job descriptions with approximate time commitment for each role are available upon request by emailing volunteers@tdaustin.org.

Director of Social Media

1-year term

 Bring our digital presence to life and grow our voice in the talent development community! As the Director of Social Media, you’ll lead ATD Austin’s presence on LinkedIn by sharing curated content, engaging with members and thought leaders, and promoting chapter events. Collaborating with the VP of Marketing and Director of Content Curation, you’ll help spark conversation, increase visibility, and celebrate the people and ideas that shape our field. If you’re active on LinkedIn (or want to be), love connecting ideas and people, and have a passion for learning, we’d love to have you on the team!

Leadership Roles

Serve on the Executive Board or the Board of Directors

Membership

Engage with members through Member Services

  • Conduct member orientation

Programs

Discover the joy of having a truly great idea for an event!

  • Collaborate to develop event ideas
  • Solicit speakers for events
  • Find venues in which to hold events
  • Order food, set up, clean up, registration, and engage with membership before, during and after events



Administration & Operations

Help with tasks needed to keep the chapter running smoothly.

  • Keep the website up-to-date
  • Send out surveys or emails
  • Post on Social Media



Partnerships

Manage relationships with our partners and sponsors.

  • Coordinate with connections at universities and organizations
  • Share resources with similar professional organizations
  • Meet with sponsors and partners to discuss benefits of supporting the chapter

Chapter leaders receive a special $179 rate for ATD membership and an upgrade to Professional Plus membership at no additional charge. You can join or renew online through TD.org, using the chapter leader application located at www.td.org/jointmembership.
