UnMarketing: Stop Marketing. Start Engaging.
Author: Scott Stratten

If you're like most people, you don't enjoy having your dinner interrupted by a cold call from a telemarketer. You probably don't bother to read the "junk mail that clutters your mailbox or the "spam" that makes your email inbox overflow. And it's a safe bet that you don't listen carefully to the commercials that interrupt your favorite television show. If these experiences are "marketing," then you - and your customers - probably prefer whatever's the complete opposite.

So instead of trying these same tired methods to build brand and loyalty, what if you could have a new kind of conversation with your customers and prospects? If you're ready to stop marketing and start engaging, then welcome to UnMarketing.

Straten provides you with innovative ways to get out of the old "Push and Pray" marketing rut, which assumes that messages sent out blindly and broadly will magically lead to loyal, long-term customers. With his "Pull and Stay" approach, you'll learn to bring the right customers to you through listening and engagement, enabling you to build trust and position yourself as their logical choice when they need you.

Stratten is the president of UnMarketing.com. His clients' viral marketing videos have been viewed more than 60 million times and have generated major returns. He speaks and consults globally on how businesses can engage their current and potential customer base using social media.

This book will give you a winning approach to stop ineffective marketing and put relationships first, so that you can reap the long-term, high-quality growth that follows.

About the Cliff Notes SIG:

This group is designed to give busy professionals exposure to best-selling books in the areas of business, learning, development, and related topics.

We start each session by listening to the audio Business Book Summary (with transcript) from AudioTech, and then finish with a participatory group discussion.

Please note:
  • Advance registration is required (see link on left) to ensure there are enough transcripts for everyone. You can also register by emailing the SIG Leader
  • Bring note-taking supplies. Transcripts will be available but collected back to preserve copyright. (If you wish, you can also order your own copy of the transcript or audio of the book summary from the Audiotech Store.)
  • It is not necessary to read the book before attending the meeting.
  • Networking begins at 6:45 pm, and the audio review begins at 7 pm. Food and drink are allowed.
