Event Details

In 2019, Brian Washburn envisioned a way to classify and organize a wide range of instructional design strategies and training tools into a periodic table of learning elements. Now this periodic table is the foundation of a newly released book by ATD Press, and in this session you’ll have an opportunity to take an in-depth look at this periodic table, identify some of the elements that could bring your next training project to life, and reflect on ways you could experiment with some of these elements in new ways.

By the end of this session, participants will have increased abilities to…

  • Explore the range of learning elements (solid elements, liquid elements, gas-like elements, radioactive elements) that can be used to engage learners through instructor-led or e-learning programs.
  • Come up with a combination of elements/formula that could work for your next training project.

Discuss how to embrace new training experiments that may blow up in your face and identify tweaks to your next experiment for maximum effectiveness.
