Let's Talk About Voice Over!

Audio is often overlooked in eLearning development, but high-quality voice over narration can significantly add to the value of eLearning programs to increase knowledge transfer and retention. If a course has poorly recorded audio narration, learners usually tune out as it’s too difficult to hear, the volume’s too low, or the audio was recorded next to an air conditioning vent for example.

In this session, you’ll learn how to get the best quality audio with what you’ve got, whether you are recording the voice over narration yourself or processing audio from another source, so that your audio will be punchy, optimized, even, and clear. You’ll also understand the benefits of using non-linear and non-destructive audio editing software packages such as Audition or Reaper versus Audacity as well as how to process audio for best results with basic EQ and audio compression, regardless of the audio software. You’ll also learn about microphone pickup patterns, see an example of voice over script formatting, and get suggestions on best practices for naming audio files as well as optimizing recording settings and levels.
