In this interactive presentation, Nickie Carstarphen will share lessons learned with practical application for anyone dealing with …. well, people.

Nickie Carstarphen, PHR is the Global Training Manager for NGA Human Resources, an HR outsourcing company with 7500 employees in call centers around the globe. In her role, she is a troubleshooter, point of escalation, and project manager for global training implementation solutions. She works with learning specialists, instructional designers, trainers, subject-matter experts, operations readiness teams, and client services to deliver software implementation training for HR administration and benefits, and payroll training for call centers worldwide. She’s learned to work with all types of people in a global community - melding cultural diversity, language variances, and personality conflicts in a virtual community to work together on strategic initiatives affecting the whole enterprise.

"Wow – that sounds impressive, right? In truth, it’s been a chaotic, frustrating journey," says Nickie.  "If you're familiar with the cable series 'My Cat From Hell,' you may recognize lessons I took from that show and creatively reworked some of their tips to ‘herd’ far-flung, independent departments used to doing everything their own way, into a global community with a shared vision and cohesive workstreams. (but don’t tell anyone they can be compared to cats ‘cuz they won’t like it)."

We'll talk about:

  • Characteristics of your co-worker "cat breeds"
  • Understanding each 'breeds' communication needs to thrive
  • Herding techniques to get the work done

You'll leave with materials that include:

  • Outlining the benefits and challenges of the various breeds, and their 'must-haves' for satisfaction
  • Best practices to communicate effectively with each breed
  • Over a dozen tried-and-true tips for improving teamwork and productivity
