When it comes to professional development knowing where to begin is often a bit overwhelming or unclear.  Our teams have told us learning is crucial, it should be personalized and flexible.  The question many are asking is how do we help narrow down the choices, target the critical few and help accelerate professional development?

Like many of you, we were faced with the same question which led to the development of our DRIVE YOUR DEVELOPMENT program.  We focused on defining job roles in terms of professional, technical, and functional competencies, including behaviors and proficiency levels. Our model gave teams a target to aim for and their managers a tool to have meaningful development and career development conversations. Business objectives included:

  • Deliver Life Cycle Management to customers
  • Improve the relationship between the customer and grow the business
  • Minimize downtime and maximize performance: advise and train customers how to use and integrate tools and technology

This session provides participants an overview of how we used competencies to turn the “what” of an expectation into the “how.”  We will also highlight how this program positioned learning paths as a starting point for development discussions and a foundation for managing their own development.  This approach has proven to be successful in helping ensure both business and individual development goals are met.

Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss case study with problem definition, strategy and actions taken
  • Review a high level process overview
  • Talk over lessons learned and understand next steps
