Job Search Lessons Learned
with Pam Caldwell and Joanne Kasten

Two of our local ATD members will each share what they learned as job seekers who recently got their dream jobs, one in private industry and one with the State of Texas. Pam Caldwell will highlight how she approached her job search, what she learned, and how it prepared her for the job she was offered.

Joanne Kasten will share how she updated her Work-in-Texas job application to get interviews, and ultimately her dream job. She will talk about matching professional skills to application qualifications, as well as how to fulfill other parts of the online application process. Joanne's new position is Training Development Specialist at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition.

In this fast-paced program you will learn:

  • Networking for job leads
  • Presenting yourself in print
  • How to handle offers for help
  • Matching skills to application requirements
  • How to win in the online application process
  • Key ideas for surviving the job search

About Joanne Kasten

Joanne Kasten has over 7 years of experience in design, development and delivery of employee occupational development with the child support division of the Attorney General of Texas. She had worked for 10 years as a caseworker with a child support agency when she became aware how much she enjoyed sharing knowledge and educating others. A door opened, and she became a Training Specialist with the same agency. Six years later, Joanne felt stagnant and needed a change and eventually landed her dream job working as a Training Development Specialist for the Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition section. Joanne may be reached by email at gojokasten@gmail.com or via her cell number at (512)230-8008.
