Austin ATD Leader in Learning Award

For the seventh consecutive year, ATD Austin is hosting the Leader in Learning program, which recognizes outstanding work in the learning and development arena. Local learning and development professionals are encouraged to submit projects for this initiative. Applications are reviewed by Certified Professionals in Learning and Performance (CPLPs) who determine a recipient for the top honor each year. In addition, this initiative serves as a platform for sharing expertise in the learning and development community. Applicants are invited to participate in ATD Austin’s fall summit by describing their award submission, sharing what is remarkable about their work, sharing lessons learned, and sharing advice for others working on similar projects.

There will be an information session about applying for the award on Monday, July 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at New Horizons. Anyone interested in finding out about the application process and judging is encouraged to attend. Questions can be sent to the Leader in Learning Coordinator, Linda Warren (lawarren@mac.com) at any time.

The recipient of the Leader in Learning Award is announced at the Austin ATD awards banquet during Employee Learning Week in early December.

Comprehensive Training Program
Rebecca Row and Stephen Cortez Dell Technologies
The Edge: Dell Technologies Competitive Video Series

This training is a series of approximately 50 self-serve videos lasting averaging 10 minutes each. Dell’s job aids weren’t providing the level of support their sales people needed so the instructional design team had to come up with training that was more effective. The training helps sales people respond to questions from customers about competitive products. They use analogies, scorecards and other techniques to make facts about their products memorable.

Focused Learning Solution
Kelly McCutcheon
Hopdoddy’s Burger Bar - Interactive Food Show

This training quickly prepares new hires to provide service to the restaurant’s customers by teaching them how to sell, communicate and elevate Hopdoddy’s offerings. The style is energetic and well suited to the business. The message is delivered in an upbeat and memorable way.  The outcome is additional sales of food offerings to enhance the customer’s experience.
